Student Information

New Students

Get ready to sweat!  Join us on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.  Take a few minutes to change and stretch before class.

New students should wear comfortable clothing until you’re ready to order a uniform.  We do a lot of kicks; longer shorts or pants are recommended.

Mouth guards, sparring gear and cups (for males) are required after the first promotion test for sparring activity.

Students can purchase uniforms from the instructor.

Bring a large bottle of water to drink before/after class.  Water breaks are limited during class time, so pre-hydrate throughout the day.

*Supply prices, Membership, and Test Fees are indicated on FAQ page.

Etiquette and General Class Reminders

Remove shoes before entering the dojang (training hall). To help reduce sand on the floor, remind your guests to remove their shoes.

Bow when entering/exiting the dojang.

Bow at the initial greeting of any black belt upon entering the dojang.

Remove all jewelry, rings, watches, etc. before class (medical jewelry is the exception) as they may cause injury to the wearer or fellow students.

Untie one loop of your belt when not actively training (ex. breaks or taking a drink).

Keep fingernails and toenails trimmed short.

Uniforms must be kept clean and neat.

Don't allow your belt to drag onto the floor (it is considered disrespectful of your rank).

Use "yes sir" or "no sir" when addressing questions.

Notify the senior instructor if unable to come to class.

Please pay class tuition by the second week of each month.

Attitude and Training

Raise your hand if you have questions for the instructor; refrain from asking questions or chatting with fellow students during class time.

Students will challenge themselves and should give their best effort; at the early stages of training, technique is not as important as a positive attitude; your technique will naturally develop over time.

You will learn lots of new techniques - do your best to follow instructor direction and be patient with yourself.  You will be a great martial artist!

size=4>Terminology

To continue with traditional Korean teachings, Korean terms are incorporated into our classes.

New students will learn how to count to 10 in Korean (see column on the right).  The remaining terminology is learned naturally as a student progresses in rank.
